ROOK’S RECAP 9.0-10.0

2 for 1 SPECIAL

I’m on a roll, I’m on a roll this time

I feel my luck could change.”

                                                 -Radiohead

THE LEAD ITEM:

TWO WORDS: Jason. Taylor

Jason Taylor and the Dolphin D are playing amazing right now. That’s why morale in Dolphin country is high. Who’d a thunk it? 3 wins in a row and our luck is most certainly changing. Taylor returned an INT for a TD for the second time in three weeks. That gives him seven for the career, tying George Martin for most ever by a Defensive Lineman. Get this man a Ring!! Let’s not be known as the team that has the best players ever who don’t win rings. Because when all is said and done, this man’s head will be bronzed in the hall.

THE GAMES

Home games are the ones you’re supposed to win, so it’s good to see the Dolphins winning them. But there’s no doubt the offence needs work. When you win a game in the NFL with -3 total rushing yards, that’s not called a win, that’s called a miracle!!! If I have to read another reporter or analyst describe Miami’s offence as sputtering, I’m gonna go crazy. My car sputtered, the old lady with the walker in my apartment building sputters. But in order to drop the sputter stigma, Joey and Co. has to do more. At least more than they did the past 2 weeks. So sit back and relax Dolphin D, dinner’s on Joey.

FINAL SCORES:

MIAMI 13 KANSAS CITY 10

MIAMI 24 MINNESOTA    20

Cheers to: (VS CHIEFS) Time of Possession. 35:30. Best ball control of the season

Jeers to: (VS CHIEFS) Ronnie “fumble” Brown

Cheers to: (VS VIKINGS) The fins for avenging Daunte vs. his old party-boat pals.

Jeers to: (VS VIKINGS) Time of Possession 24:00. Worst ball control of the season

Ally’s All Star Dolphin: Jason Taylor for both games.

Dawg-o-Meters: 8 for both games.

THE GAME OUTSIDE THE GAME

Truth be told I’ve missed the last two games. I viewed the Miami/KC game on nfl.com’s Gamecenter. I know every hardcore fan has had to resort to these measures at some point or another. Did you know they air live commercials now! Right in that little Gamecenter window! Why not just air the game on the net. The little football on the field disappears for streaming video of American commercials. It’s crazy. For the second game, I went to The Oasis Sports bar but they wouldn’t put the Fins fame on. They told me all the TV’s were in use. So I came home and watched the Shed Cam. (sigh) I miss the shed. But judging the score by the reactions of the Sheddawgs is more fun than watching a little football move back and forth. That’s all I got to say about that.

Melanie’s Quotes of the Week: (VS CHIEFS)

Channing Crowder should be in da Shed:

“At the end of the season last we went on a winning streak and we’re starting to play better and cranking it up now. Hopefully, we can win out.”

(VS VIKINGS)

Joey asked if he’s ever played with a guy like JT:

“Nope. Nope. Nope. I don’t have anything else to say. He is invaluable to this football team. Who does that? I mean really, who does that? He’s like Austin Powers.

JUNGLE JIM’S PLAY OF THE GAME

(CHIEFS GAME) Flea Flicker to Chris Chambers.  46 yards to set up a Ronnie Brown 1 yard TD!

(VIKINGS GAME) Jason Taylor's Int returned for a TD.  Second Int for a TD in three weeks! Sealed the win for the Dolphins.

TWID:

November 19th, 1989

Miami defeats Dallas 17-14 in Shula Bowl IV, as Don Shula extends his record to 4-0 in Shula vs. Shula contests. This time Shula was opposed by son Dave, the Assistant Head Coach of the Cowboys. The win also was the Dolphins' sixth win in their last seven games and moved them into a first-place tie with the Buffalo Bills atop the AFC East. That same week Michael J.Fox returned as MARTY Mclfy in Back to the Future II. The best of the trio if you ask me.

Power outage:

ESPN: 21st  (Last Week 25th)  They almost certainly dug too big a hole to make the playoffs, but the Dolphins are going to be a team that nobody wants to play in the second half.

Mount Pearl Game Day Temp:

(CHIEFS) A nice 50 F

(VIKINGS) An unbelievable 62 F

ON TAP: Nov 23 2:00NL Time, Miami at Detroit...It's American Thanksgiving!!!
